The Curse of the Blue Nun - Guardian Word of Mouth, 20.10.10

I specialise in food, drink and travel writing, and am always interested in new commissions in these areas.

I have a weekly column in the Guardian’s G2, and write regularly for the Metro, the Daily Mail, and Tim Hayward’s excellent food quarterly, Fire & Knives. My first book, Perfect, will be published by Fig Tree in August 2011.

I spent four years at fresh and fresh escapes magazines, latterly as Deputy Editor, writing on everything from foraging to Finland, and interviewing the likes of Heston Blumenthal and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (Hugh while out fishing for mackerel in a force six gale).

As fresh’s former drinks editor, I have a particular interest in this area, and hold the Wine & Spirits Education Trust’s ‘Advanced Certificate in Wines & Spirits’ (Distinction). I’ve completed the Diageo Malt Advocates course up at Royal Lochnagar, stayed up till dawn tasting Fino at the Jerez fiesta, and reckon I make a pretty fine damson gin.

I also dabble in subbing, recipe editing and testing, and copywriting.
